I Bring you a Gift!

Hello Friends!

So, back a few years ago I did an interview with an author…possibly my first author interview I ever did. (I really want to get back to author interviews) Well, this author just so happened to be Jonas Lee! You can check out that interview HERE. And you can read my reviews of his first two books HERE and HERE.

But the reason I am bringing up the great Jonas Lee today is because…HE FINALLY HAS A THIRD BOOK! Though, there is still not set release date we do have a cover! What? A cover? Why yes! That is exactly what we have.

So…drum roll please…

A Time to Die

BAM! Not going to lie, I love this cover. I also love that the cover matches the last two covers…because that is a thing that we book lovers love. I can not wait for the book to come out! I have something else for you!

Carter Gabel saved his own life, and rescued his city from destruction. But, after the Pirates forced him into hiding, he spent years holed up in Crighton, city of ghosts.  Just as he thinks the world has forgotten him, a knock on the door interrupts his life and as he opens it, his next journey begins. An unexpected foe waits for him at the end to challenge everything he knows and all that his future holds. What must Carter do to survive? And what does he sacrifice to become a legend?

And if you are wondering who Jonas Lee is…here is a little about the author!

Writing out of the Black Hills of South Dakota, Jonas likes coming up with new and creative worlds that speak to the plausible while remaining believable. With a fist-full of peanut M&Ms and a cup of coffee, he has written three novels about a snarky, supernatural teen able to time travel and more.

Beyond writing, Jonas has a gift for useless knowledge through watching trivia shows and a love for cinematic adventures. Music fuels his writing and you can see him with at least one earbud in every day.

And as always, here are some links!

Now that I have updated you on all this amazingness…I am going to go re-read the first two books to get ready for the third one that I have been waiting forever for!

Book Review: A Time to Reap by Jonas Lee

First of all can I just say, the cover is amazing! I will be the first to admit to being guilty of judging a book by it’s cover.

Quick information about the author. He is self-published, but don’t let that turn you away. I promise you will not regret it. You can find Jonas Lee’s blog here.

Obviously I let this book sit in my TBR list for a little bit before I decided to read it. Mainly because it was a fellow blogger and I love supporting my fellow bloggers! It would probably still be sitting there if there was not a second book already out. A note to all authors, if you want me to read your book, publish a second on. It’s like a itch that I can’t resist scratching at that point.

About “A Time to Reap”

The story follows Carter, a time traveler. He can only go back in time and he can not control when he travels, where he travels, nor how long he stays there. It’s all up to his body. Luckily, Carter is not the only one that travels. Time traveling is like a gene that is passed on from generation to generation, like hair color, eye color, and cancer. Why cancer? Because time traveling is not always a welcome experience.

The school that Carter attends is a place for students with special abilities, either time traveler or those who can read minds. At school he finds a girl, Mo, who can read his mind as clearly as if he were speaking straight to her. This leads to her finding out her secrets. That same day Mo is almost killed when her car explodes. Lucky for her, Carter discovers a new ability and saves her.

Now, the Program, a group dedicated to studying time travelers and Eventuals (those that read minds), has taken an interest in Carter and Mo. So much so that their lives are now in danger.

My Thoughts

The other day I was at work, trying to figure out an ending to a movie that I had recently watched. For the life of me I could not remember how it ended, or even when I watched this movie. Then I realized, it wasn’t a movie I was remembering, it was this book! It has been a rare occasion for me to become so wrapped up in a book that it plays out like a movie in my head. I have come across some boring books, or just blah books.

“A Time to Reap” was not boring or blah. They say when writing that the first chapter is the most important part of the book. In this case, Jonas Lee, has mastered the first chapter. From the very first paragraph to the last words of the first chapter, I was hooked. I didn’t want to go to sleep because I wanted to continue reading. Again, this is something that has been lacking in my reading lately. It was a book I just couldn’t bring myself to putting down.

It did remind me of the movie “A Time Traveler’s Wife” which was an amazing movie. The time travelers did were not able to decide when they traveled and they always show up without clothes, just like the movie. But, it’s nothing like the movie. There is a sweet love story underlying the story, but it doesn’t overpower the whole, which I greatly appreciate.

If you have something against indie authors, this book will blow you out of the water. Actually, if you found this book on the shelf at Barnes n’ Noble it would still blow you out of the water. Seriously, how many books about time travelers are out there? It’s refreshing and entertaining.  I can’t wait to read the next book.

Buy it on Amazon. Good news is it’s a steal at 99 cent for the ebook!
