Blurb from Goodreads: Two destinies. One death.

“Her kiss could kill us, and my consent signed our death certificates.”

Eric Welborn isn’t completely human, but he isn’t the only shade in the small Midwest town of Hayworth. With one year left before his eighteenth birthday, Eric is destined to win a long-raging war for his kind. But then she happens. In the middle of the night, Eric meets a nameless shade, and she’s powerful—too powerful—and his beliefs are altered. The Dark has lied to him, and he’s determined to figure out exactly what lies were told, even if the secrets protect his survival.

Jessica Taylor moves to Hayworth, and her only goal is to find more information on her deceased biological family. Her adoptive parents agree to help on one condition: perfect grades. And Jessica is distraught when she’s assigned as Eric’s class partner. He won’t help, let alone talk to her, but she’s determined to change him—even if it means revealing everything he’s strived to hide.

Minutes Before Sunset is the first book in The Timely Death Trilogy.

Review

The cover is gorgeous. I love the dark colors with a little pop of purple and it was one of the reasons I decided to read this book.

I spent the first half of this book, not bored, but not really into the story. I thought it was a good story, but it wasn’t something I thought I would put down after the first book and leave the series unfinished. Then, at the half way mark I became so entranced by the story that I couldn’t stop reading. I stayed up until 2 am to finish it…knowing I had to be at work at 6am that morning. It was that good.

As far as the story goes, it was unique and intriguing. It did keep me guessing and somewhat confused about what was going on, but in a way that you want a story to be confusing. I did know that Jessica was the mystery girl, but how could you not figure that out. I also think I know exactly who Darthon is, but I won’t ruin that for you. I could be wrong too, I guess.

I felt like Jessica and Eric both were very diverse characters and very well developed. They had their back stories, their problems, and teenage dramas. I also enjoyed that there were no instant love and that a love story developed over time, which is how a believable love story is going to happen.

I loved that the ending was an actual ending. At one point towards the end I was afraid it was going to be one of those books with a very abrupt ending that left me more mad than interested in picking up the next book. It had a very honed ending that was not only a good stopping point, but just enough information to make me rush to the next book.

The story was very well written and very well edited. I can see some plot holes, but there are two more books in the series so I am not so worried about that and have faith that the author will cover everything before ending this series.

Hello Friends! Happy Monday…I guess. 😛 I had to weekend off and now I see why Monday’s suck. Also, truck day is never fun. It’s even worse when you have to go in a 6 in the morning.

Enough complaining…at least I have a job that pays the bills, right?

At the moment I am still listening to Finders Keepers by Stephen King

Let me tell you…I don’t know why I am so amazed at the crazy mind of Stephen King. Most of the stories I have read by him so far have all had a supernatural element to it. This one is just crazy people with a need to kill for whatever reason. Makes my skin crawl.

I kept saying how i just wasn’t interested in this story and didn’t think I would continue on with the series. I have officially changed my mind. This book is so good! I will probably finish it today and possibly buy the next book ASAP becuase it now has my undivided attention.

WeekTBR

Since I am so close to finishing one book and finished a book Sunday, I feel it’s safe to have a TBR for this week.

Hello Friends! Happy Monday! I know you just don’t like Monday’s, who does? Monday is truck day for me so it is a long and exhausting day of moving boxes and trying not to kill myself on the metal rollers that we used to unload trucks. But! We have something awesome to look forward to, books!

This week I will start listening to Finders Keepers by Stephen King.

I can’t wait to dig into this one. It’s the second book in the Bill Hodges series. Last month I listened to Mr. Mercedes and that book was…crazy.

I am reading Dead Set by Richard Kadrey.

This book so far is fantastic. I find it hard to put down at night.

This book has been interesting so far, but I am not sure that I am really into it. I will finish it. I like it enough to finish the book, but I am not sure I will continue on with the series…We will see.

I have another book that I am supposed to be reading, but I just can’t bring myself to actually read it. I also have a few books that I need to read for the Author of the month. Hopefully on my days off this week I can really dig into them.

So, tell me, what are you reading?

Hello Friends! Happy Monday…or you know, whatever…Monday.

For anyone interested to know, I am feeling better! Energy is still super low, but my head isn’t nearly as congested and it is safe to say I will live…not that there was ever a chance I was dying. I’m just super dramatic when I am sick.

Let’s get on to what you all came her for today!

Since I have been sick I haven’t really been reading much so…I kind of got behind. I am hoping to finally finish this book this week.

I started reading Minutes Before Sunset by Shannon A. Thompson this week.

It’s actually really interesting. I have been following Shannon’s blog for a while now, I just never read her books. This book came up on sale and I decided to give it a try. I am always a little leery about authors I haven’t read before. Even if I read their blogs. But so far I am really pleased.

I am also reading Dead Set by Richard Kadrey

Funny story, I found this book at the Dollar Tree. Yes, I paid a buck for this book! I am only one chapter in and it is so interesting. When I bought it I actually had a lady ask me how I knew I was going to like the book. I had just checked on Goodreads to make sure it wasn’t a second or third book in a series. That is the only problem with buying books from Dollar Tree. Half the time they are part of a series and never the first book.

Anyways, the lady couldn’t believe I was paying money for a book I knew nothing about. My answer…”I like the cover.” I admit, I am one of those people that judges a book by it’s cover. I found one of my favorite authors because I liked a cover, and so far I have liked just about everything I bought just because I liked the cover.

That is all today. I am reading way too many books at once. I have a few days off this week and I am kind of hoping to knock these out this week! Before the end of the month!
