First Line: Michael was not himself.

Blurb from Goodreads: From the New York Times bestselling author of the Maze Runner series comes The Rule of Thoughts, the exciting sequel to The Eye of Minds. Fans of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth and The Hunger Games will love the new Mortality Doctrine series.

Michael completed the Path. What he found at the end turned everything he’d ever known about his life—and the world—completely upside down.

He barely survived. But it was the only way VirtNet Security knew to find the cyber-terrorist Kaine—and to make the Sleep safe for gamers once again. And, the truth Michael discovered about Kaine is more complex than they anticipated, and more terrifying than even the worst of their fears.

Kaine is a tangent, a computer program that has become sentient. And Michael’s completing the Path was the first stage in turning Kaine’s master plan, the Mortality Doctrine, into a reality.

The Mortality Doctrine will populate Earth entirely with human bodies harboring tangent minds. Any gamer who sinks into the VirtNet risks coming out with a tangent intelligence in control of their body.

And the takeover has already begun.

This book…this whole series so far has awakened my mind to so many possibilities. Actually, it has just kicked my overactive imagination into overdrive. This whole book had me on the edge of my seat. Micheal has a new body, he knows he is a tangent, was never human, some human created him. Can you imagine waking up in a body you don’t recogonize and then being told that you were never human, you were just a program that has been downloaded into someone’s hijacked mind?

Then he goes off to find his friends and finds himself in even more trouble. Now the cops are out to get him, Kaine is out for him, and he can’t trust anyone but his two friends. And let’s not mention all the tangents now riding around in human bodies.

What has happened to the world?!

I will tell you, I have been listening to this, as I do a book a month. On my way home, through the last chapter, I thought I was going to have to pull over on the side of the road. The last chapter is such a whirlwind of “OMG!” The end of this book had me wishing it was March and I had another audible credit, because I can’t afford another audio book right now. I was so ready to tear into the next book. I want to know what happens and how this is all going to go down. Will Michael get to keep the body he is in or will he go back to being a tangent? Will he finally fall to Kaine’s demands? Will he fall in love with Sarah? Come on, if you have read any of this series you are hoping it happens! Or is it just me?
