What A Crazy Week

I don’t do this often anymore, just write a post about what is going on in my life. I have more a direction that I want my blog to go in and I have been going in that direction full force. But this week has been a little crazy and hectic.

My store manager has been on vacation this week. I am finally the full time assistant manager, meaning it is up to me to take care of all the store manager duties while she is away. I thought I would be ready for it. But boy was I wrong. Everything has gone horribly wrong this week.

It started with Sunday when our district manager decided to stop by. Of course there are all kinds of things wrong with the store, which I already knew. But now the DM wants it all fixed and he wants it fixed now.

Monday is usually truck day, but the truck never came. I had to be back at work at 5 am Tuesday to unload truck with one other person. We usually have 3 to 4 people helping with truck, and this week there was only 2. It took us 4 hours to unload the truck! After that I was at work until 6pm…a 13 hour shift. Of course, the DM made a visit on Tuesday as well and informed us that we needed a stock crew. Because we have the hours for that…(sarcasm)

Wednesday morning the DM was back at 7 am and didn’t leave until about 1pm. I wasn’t there, but I heard all the crap he wanted to change in the store. More stuff to add to the already growing list, on top of the regular things that need to be done.

Mind you, the DM hardly ever shows up to the store when the SM is there. This week he has made 3 visits with plans to be back today. I am not at work today so I will hear all about it tomorrow.

If you can’t tell, I am stressed to the max. I have a stock room that is slam full and can’t get to stocking because the DM wants all this stuff changed around. On top of all of this, the store AC is out! It’s like a Chinese sweat shop in there! All I have to say is if I don’t lose weight this week, there is something terribly wrong with me.

Just two more days and the SM will be back and I can go back to being the fun loving assistant manager I have been. Of course, I am also ready to fire a few cashiers for their incompetence and unwillingness to help through such a hectic week.

I’m telling you, life as manager of any kind is not as fun as some make it seem. Now I know why all my managers in the past have been grumpy and cranky. I will never become SM because I don’t want to deal with the headache!

Tell me, how has your week been?

I’m headed to a book store…or two…to de-stress on my day off!
