I am not going to lie, I have been looking forward to this movie since the first preview. I am a sucker for Disney movies and giant cuddly robots. I just can’t help myself. I am a nerd living in a fantasy world.
I was so excited to finally see it that I just couldn’t contain myself. I have been saying “Hairy Baby” for weeks now.
The movie starts out with Hiro entering into a robot match. Not exactly legal, and not exactly for a 14 year old kid to be into. Of course, we all know that Hiro is some kind of genius and he wins the robot fight, making the other guy angry. Like…”I’m going to let my goons kill you” kind of angry. Then, Hiro’s big brother, Tadashi drives in to save the day.
Tadashi scolds Hiro about participating in robot fights, you know, the big brother stuff. Tadashi then introduces Hiro to his “nerd school” friends. After meeting the professor that Hiro idolizes he decides he wants to put away his robot and do something good with his nerd brain and go to the college his brother goes to. You find out early on that Hiro graduated high school at the age of 13.
I am going to go ahead and tell you that this movie does not stay light and fluffy and funny for long. Something happens at the school and Tadashi dies. But, if you pay attention to the previews you already knew this was going to happen. Also, as my brother mentioned, it’s Disney. We never get away without someone dying in Disney movies. The go straight for the feels!
Hiro finds out that someone has stolen his invention and isn’t using it for good things. This invention he thought was destroyed in the accident that killed Tadashi. Now there is a mad man on the lose and Hiro, along with Tadashi’s invention, Baymax, and some friends, decide to find out who the bad guy is and stop him.
To be honest, I may be a little biased when it comes to this movie. It has everything I love. A cuddly giant, a sad story, a happy ending, and tons of laughs. Also, it’s Disney and I just feel like Disney can do no wrong. I know that many disagree with me, but…we are just talking about my own personal opinion so leave me to my own.
The movie really was fantastic. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. The graphics, of course, we fantastic. Now I want a Baymax of my own…and a genius brain of course.
I think that if you feel like watching a cute movie you should totally check it out. Or you can be one of those people that snarls your nose up at Disney and not watch it. You know…if you hate things like rainbows and kittens and puppies and unicorns. It’s okay, you can be boring if you want.
