Movie Review: Godzilla

cKyGDRbFirst let me start with a confession.  I didn’t think I was going to like this movie.  I am so over all these movies being remade and I thought this was going to be another stupid movie.  And I am mature enough to admit that I was so very wrong!!

Do I really need to cover this?  Godzilla comes from the ocean to defeat these parasite things.  That is the basis of the story.  That is all you need to know!

I went into this with low expectations.  I mean, how great can a movie be when it’s about a giant lizard that destroys cities?  Don’t hate me for thinking it!  It is what it is.  My brother asked me if I wanted to go with him and some friends to see the movie.  I have been down in the dumps lately, so of course I said yes.  I needed to get out of the house and do something other than just go to church.  Not that I don’t love my church family, but sometimes you just need to be around old friends.

So, I went to this movie and paid 17 bucks!! Just to see it in 3D.  UGH!! Expensive.  But I will tell you right now, it was worth every penny.  I loved the movie.  It was great and I now have a whole new understanding of Godzilla.

What I took from this movie is that Godzilla really isn’t the bad guy.  The last Godzilla movie made it out that way.  But really Godzilla sleeps until a new threat awakens him.  He comes to clean up the mess that us meager humans can not even comprehend.  So when these two new creatures awaken to mate and create more ugly bug looking creatures, Godzilla leaves his slumber and takes them down.

I see Godzilla in a whole new light.  He is not a giant lizard that destroys towns, he is a giant lizard that accidentally destroys towns while protecting the human race.  Honestly, there was a moment where I thought I could even seen Godzilla’s soul!  Like, he knew exactly what he was doing and in the end he showed us who was boss.

I don’t want to give anything away because this movie just released this weekend.  What I will say is, if you had not planned on seeing the movie, please go see it.  The actors are fantastic, the special effects are perfect and not too over the top.  I mean, if Godzilla was real I would imagine that the special effects in the movie are pretty close to what it would be in real life.

Also, the good Olsen sister is in the movie.  The one that doesn’t look like she is anorexic and sick.  Forgive me for hating on the Olsen twins, I’m just jealous.

And let’s just face the facts here, Godzilla is just misunderstood!  The Snickers commercial makes so much sense now.

Stop reading my blog and go watch the movie!! It was 1000 times better than the last Godzilla movie.  And if you see Godzilla, give him a hug, he deserves it!
